The origin of the first written stories dates back more than four thousand years to Ancient Egypt. A story is nothing more than a narrative, generally brief, of real, legendary or fantastical events, and its purpose consists, aside from entertaining and amusing, often in conveying a moral.

One of the primary resources in therapy is the use of stories, because it is a way of indirectly approaching what worries the child, and in this way they can feel identified without having felt invaded.

Stories are a powerful tool for addressing problems that the child has in their everyday life and seeing them through a character who is not real but who in turn acts like them. Below, we recommend different stories according to the theme that have helped us psychologists in therapy.

1. Emotions

1. EMOTIONS:

1.1. Jealousy

1.1. JEALOUSY:

In therapy we have numerous cases of children with jealousy, whether toward their sibling, their friends, etc. This resource helps them understand what it means to be jealous, to accept it and to learn to value the virtues that one has oneself, since, in the end, jealousy and self-esteem go hand in hand.

3 YEARS to 6 YEARS:

In this story, it tells of a prince whose parents, his maid, his crocodile, his throne, etc., have suddenly disappeared. He wants to find out who has stolen his throne, and in the end he comes across a big surprise.

This is the most beautiful story in the world. An illustrated album that describes with tenderness and humor the doubts, feelings and emotion of a child when a baby arrives home. It is a way of seeing how fun the arrival of a sibling is.

FROM 7 YEARS OLD:

It tells the story of a dinosaur who is jealous of everyone, and this makes him not enjoy anything. Gerard feels very bad because he doesn't enjoy anything. When will he stop feeling so jealous of others?

1.2. Anger

1.2. ANGER:

ALL AGES:

It tells the story of a child who gets so angry that a dragon's tail suddenly grows on him. This makes him go around breaking everything around him. Javier realizes that perhaps having a tail isn't so positive.

In addition, at the end of the story you will find some fun activities that will help the child to better manage their anger.

1.3. Fear

1.3. FEAR:

You will find a list of stories about how to manage fears.

1.4. Sadness

1.4. SADNESS:

FROM 3 YEARS OLD:

Goss is a stray dog. One day he decides to go closer to the stars, and one day he meets a child who is very sad, and the child will tell him his sorrows.

1.5. Calmness

1.5. CALMNESS:

FROM 2 YEARS OLD:

An essential emotion for being able to control anger.

1.6. Emotions in general

1.6. EMOTIONS IN GENERAL:

FROM 2 TO 6 YEARS:

It is a graphic and very fun story about how vegetables can express both simple and complex emotions.

2. Death, abandonment and divorce

2. DEATH/ABANDONMENT/DIVORCE:

ALL AGES:

A book of stories to address with children topics such as abandonment and the loss of a loved one. The book consists of three parts: one contains stories about the loss of loved ones (grandparents, parents, siblings, friends, etc.), the second part deals with abandonment, and the third gathers stories that reflect the various beliefs that exist about what comes after death.

3 YEARS to 6 YEARS:

This is the story of one of the sweetest grandfathers that could ever exist, a grandfather with dreams of chocolate, strawberry and lots of pistachios!, and of the memory that his greatest admirer has of him: his grandson.

3. Conflicts and bullying

3. CONFLICTS / BULLYING:

FROM 4 YEARS OLD:

It tells the story of a child, Juli, who has problems with two children at school. They pick on him constantly. Until one day his mother asks him what is wrong with him, and at that moment the story divides in two: whether Juli tells or not.

It is a story that helps the child realize how decisions can affect things one way or another.

4. Self-esteem

4. SELF-ESTEEM:

From 3 years old:

This lovely story helps the little ones reflect on accepting themselves just as they are.

5. Empathy

5. EMPATHY:

Until the age of 10-12, children have not fully developed their capacity to empathize, that is, they find it difficult to put themselves in another's place. Stories have been created where children have the opportunity to step into the character's shoes and are taught to experience what the character is feeling at that moment (pain, anger, joy, sadness, calm, etc.).

From 3 years old:

It is a pirate who was very hungry and suddenly decides to eat all the stars. But what will the moon think if it is left without stars around it? It is a fun story that deals with friendship and empathy.
