Homework and studying is a resource to consolidate everything learned at school; however, **in many homes this can end up causing conflicts and difficulties in coexistence between parents and children. **

To **help make this relationship flow more smoothly** we propose the following **guidelines**:

## 1. It is vital to take care of the environmental conditions:

![children's homework](/images/blog/2017/04/Diseno-de-cuartos-de-estudio-para-ninos.webp)-try to make sure your child **always does their homework and studies in the same place**, trying to make it a quiet spot, free from distractions and too much noise.

-good lighting, ideally with natural light; if that is not possible, **the light should be on the opposite side from the hand your child writes with.**

- if possible, **the table should be spacious and the chair should have a backrest.**

## 2. To create a study habit:

-it is recommended that homework always be done **at the same time**; if that is not possible or they do extracurricular activities, they should always have a fixed study schedule.

- It is advisable to do homework **before playing** and doing activities that are rewarding for them, that is, before playing, watching television, etc. In this way we **reward their effort** and we help them and encourage a work habit.

- From the start of schooling it is important to **encourage the habit of doing homework** **daily**, and if our child has none on a given day we can devote some time to reading.

## 3. Relationship with the school:

It is important that parents **take an interest in the school's activities** and the schoolwork their child does. To do this, it is necessary that they supervise the school diary and the activities of the different subjects. Homework-checking time can be an ideal moment to show interest and highlight what is done well.

At early ages, **ask them daily about school in a positive way**, review their notebooks and congratulate them on their work and effort, and check that they have written down the homework in the diary. Little by little, if all of this is being done correctly, it is important to start spacing out these checks.

Dialogue and the exchange of information with the tutor is essential to keep up to date with anything that may come up. For this reason, attending meetings with the tutors and going to the school when they notice any difficulty is extremely important to help them with their difficulties.

![children homework](/images/blog/2017/04/deberes-punto-3.webp)As far as possible, we should try to make sure they enjoy the tasks, or at least the satisfaction of having made an effort.

Children with difficulties may **need short periods** and it is often recommended to break the tasks into parts.

In some cases, it is necessary to set a maximum amount of time with the child for how long they can be doing the tasks. If for some reason they do not want to do their homework, it should never be the parents who do it; it is better to stop the time when it has come to an end and let them face their responsibilities the next day for not having done it.

If your child needs help with their organization, we can help them divide the tasks into different parts so that, little by little, they will learn to plan.

With all of this, we believe that **the most important thing is to maintain a positive attitude** toward their effort, to highlight all their achievements even if they are small, encouraging their good attitude even if the results are not what was expected, and in this way we will stimulate their interest.
